Due to Covid19 emergency the Winter School "Fluid Machines and Energy Systems Engineering” has been cancelled for this year. It will be held in the spring semester 2021
4th Winter School for PhD students on
FLUID MACHINES AND ENERGY SYSTEMS
September, 2020
University of Pisa
This year the 3rd “summer school” for PhD students of fluid machines and energy systems will be held in Pisa (Italy) on September 2020. The main topic of the school will be Renewable Energies, Energy Storage and Plant Flexibility. In the last 10 years, the share of renewable sources in the energy mix of several countries is increased with a steady pace. This led to a revolution in the way to conceive energy conversion and diffusion in comparison to a fossil fuel based system. However , the transition to a future with a high penetration of renewables implies several criticalities both from the technical and economic point of view.
The School will be the opportunity to discuss these topics, have an insight to new frontiers of engineering research and promote the cooperation between PhD Students. The focus of the conference will be threefold: Turbomachinery, Energy Systems and Internal Combustion Engines. The school will include plenary sessions with outstanding keynote speakers from both academy and industry: The school will include:
- Parallel technical sessions to allow the students to choose the topic they prefer
- Short lessons on emerging topics as energy economy and power regulation and transmission
- Ice-breaking sessions to promote networking between PhD Students
- Workgroup activities to promote discussion and self-learning
